I’ll admit it: I’m a coffee snob. It’s got to be roasted just right, ground just coarse enough, and delivered fragrant and not too hot.
The rub is that in Geneva, for the most part, the coffee is very good just about everywhere, but rarely is it great coffee. Or coffee without an obligatory meal first.
Blue Balloon in Carouge is a recent discovery, with a particularly perfect cuppa’ joe. The espresso comes out bright, just acidic enough, with a spicy aftertaste that convinced me to go for a second shot. Who could want more?
Well. IF you do, they also have a range of lunchable food à la carte, as well as international yummies like Crunchie bars (UK) and Oreos (USA).
Oh, and did I mention that they also sell a range of cute handbags and shirts with funny French word play? Like “Je m’en fish,” roughly translated to “I don’t care,” featuring a can of sardines.
Sitting right in the middle of picturesque Carouge, Blue Balloon Coffee is a good stopover to refuel before continuing the exploration. Or just a destination for a great cup of coffee!
