It was a good friend of mine who first introduced me to Bongo Joe – this hidden gem in the Augustins neighborhood which is a bar and record store at the same time.
My friend is a big vinyl records enthusiast and has spent many of his Thursday evenings here, looking for another special blues, soul or funk album for his collection. I started joining him because I really like the concept of Bongo Joe, the atmosphere and the people that hang out there because you feel a little bit like you are at a friend’s place having a beer.
The store itself is rather small, there are only around three tables inside which makes it feel very cozy. When the weather is nice, people gather outside on the terrace. Bongo Joe not only sells records but also organizes concerts by young aspiring artists. What I like about those concerts is that they are very intimate and laid-back and at the end you pay whatever you feel is adequate. But also during the colder months, Bongo Joe is always worth a visit. A hot coffee and some cool vinyl beats will definitely warm you up!
