When I think of Switzerland one of the top three words that comes to my head is chocolate, does that happen to you? If it does, then it is a must to buy, eat & enjoy the Swiss’ sweet treats.
The best place to start is at the Maison Favarger, which happens to be a tradition in Geneva dating back to 1826; the story started when a watchmaker fell in love with the daughter of a chocolate maker and married the chocolate tradition along with her. Ever since, generation after generation, they have created some of the best chocolates in Switzerland.
I discovered these delights thanks to a friend, and immediately fell in love. My favorites are the nougalines, either dark or milk chocolate, they have a thin crust of caramelized nuts inside with a touch of chocolate fondant. They are absolutely irresistible!
You can find their chocolate in many stores around Geneva, however the best place to start is at their main boutique in Quai des Berges. Once you leave the store with your bag of nougalines, you see the waving Swiss flags on the “Pont du Mont Blanc” and the jet d’eau is saying ‘hi’ at you; you have no doubt you are in Switzerland!
