La Fromagerie is my #1 spot in terms of cheese shopping. As you may know eating cheese is a sport in Switzerland; whether it is fondue or raclette, everyone enjoys these two delicacies. It is more common to eat raclette and fondue during winter, however it is a tradition to eat a Fondue the 1st of August for the Swiss National Day!
La Fromagerie only closes 1 week during summer, the owner affirms that she sells cheese all throughout the year. I always buy the raclette du Valais cheese, that comes in a half-bound way; which is perfect if you have the raclette machine to cut the cheese once it is grilled.
The particular thing about this shop is that it seems it has been there forever! La Fromagerie sells all kinds of cheese and derivatives, accessories to eat cheese (fondue pots, raclette machines, cows and Swiss flags), and desserts to finish your Swiss meal (meringues and caramels). Be careful, they don’t accept credit cards and they are closed on Mondays! Enjoy!
