In an era where everything is digital, video, in-your-face and simply solo, something is lost from the face-to-face, tactile excitement of board and card games.
Luckily there has been a resurgence globally with such fun party games as “Cards Against Humanity,” and here in Geneva there is a true Ali Baba’s Cave of games: L’Epée à 2 Nains (in English, the 2-dwarf sword).
I admit, I’ve been playing D&D, Magic: The Gathering, and many other role-playing games since I was very young, so this store has a particular draw… not only for the huge range of new games to learn about, but also for the social aspect. L’Epée not only lets you try the games on-site for free, but also organizes a game night every Thursday for all ages and interests.
For me, this is a great place to buy gifts for friends, their kids, even myself and my family. It’s an opportunity to find something fun and tear ourselves away from the all-encompassing video screens of our daily lives.
Oh, and don’t worry about the language: they offer games in French and English, too!
My suggestion? Grab a copy of Cards Against Humanity, 4-5 friends, a few bottles of booze and get ready for a fun, different night.
