I hesitated for a while, should I or should I not write about Alice and give away this magical place to you fine folk? Well of course I should, so I welcome you to take a look, take a seat and lift your pinky. It is high brow time! The interior is simply splendid and the waitresses are in perky uniforms, like you’ve seen them in the movies. Alice is great for eating and catching up, having a sip in the afternoon or if you want to go all the way: The Sunday Brunch. But then make sure you make a call, reservations are in order.
They pass my cappuccino test with glamour, the foam sticks to the bottom of the cup, and the pieces of pie they offer are moist and savoury arts of work. Especially the chocolate cake, it is almost like eating a moelleux, but bigger!
I come here to daydream, not a hard job in this interior, and the crowd is somewhat different than the folks you see in coffee bars. That is because Alice is not marketed as such.
If you are not a coffee in the afternoon kind of person, you are still welcome to try the lunch and dinner menu. I’ve only had brunch here and that was good, but I am sure the chef of the house has a very nice surprise for you.
