I have been meaning to write about this spot for a very long time and now, the time has finally come. De Walrus opened up last year, next-door, separated by a bridge. Almost instantly, I discovered its fine kitchen. The daily is vegetarian, and is major publicity for not eating meat! I do not consider myself a veggie, but in De Walrus, you really do not miss meat. The young couple are very nice hosts and help you where they can.
They redesigned the old building, which was empty for two years, with a very old feeling and a lot of wood. There are tables (of course) with an old piano to the side and a smiling sailor at the end of the room. Behind the first room is a second and a terrace to sit outside!
On the weekends you can enjoy bands mesmerizing you and your food or take a pick of the weekly suggestions in wines and whiskeys. They call themselves a light brown café and like jazz music from the 20s. I suggest: you try everything.
