A cliche is a cliche because it works. That also counts for the famous Jenever Café “Dreupelkot” (also known as Chez Pol). This small local bar is located in one of the nicest spots in Ghent, next to the Lys river and in the very center of Ghent. It may appear in every tourist guide, but when in Ghent one must visit this special venue. With more than 200 jenevers on the menu, even the regular customer will discover surprising new flavours. And who doesn’t like a strong jenever, even in sunny times?

Apart from the fruity tastes, I would definitely recommend you try some of the 50 home-made jenevers. You can choose between a small or a larger glass, but do as we do: order a range of flavours, sip from each glass and pass the tastes around. There’s no better way of starting the evening. Beware: you might feel dizzy when leaving through Pol’s door.
