It looks like there’s a trend in Ghent to have expensive burgers, and you could wonder why you would spend so much more on a piece of meat between two buns. But that’s asking why you would spend more money on a professional photographer when you can have a hobby photographer do it for less. It is just not the same. Rest assured, I still go to my burger baking friend for a Bicky once in a while, but if you want something more special, I discovered Ellis Gourmet Burger.
At first I was a bit hesitant, because it is located right there in the most touristy spot of our beloved medieval city. But I was pleasantly surprised. A burger with some truffle or a burger with deer meat is a whole new taste experience and not to compare with the pickles and onions version. And the fries are nice and crispy, not too greasy. In other words, our national dish with a serious upgrade is what you are getting here. And the fact that it is part of a chain, well, it is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it just means it really is worth opening up in different locations.
