What is the link between Berlin, Cannes, Venice and Ghent? Apart from the fact that you should visit them all, they all house a film festival. From the 10th until the 20th of October 2017 the 44th International Filmfestival makes Ghent the place to be. This might not be the best known festival in the world, but we are well proud of it.
The central theme in Ghent is always music in movies. All three cinema’s and the Film-Plateau (the university cinema) participate in the project. Also other locations, like Capitole, will be transferred into cinemas. Concerts and parties make the festival complete.
What is nice about the festival is the fact that we’re able to see loads of movies which otherwise would never find their ways to Belgian movie theaters. So, don’t expect blockbusters, but a nice selection of what world cinema has to offer.
The programme is online. So you’d better make your selection soon and start ordering tickets. Most of the screenings are rapidly sold out, especially the ones in the evening. If you like some glitter and glamour, Belgian style, go to the opening night to spot some people who are big in Belgium.
