Fresh, crunchy, a delicious smell and about 114 cm long, that’s the definition of a tasty baguette. The best place in Ghent, no doubt about it, where you can find the perfection in baguettes is the little bakery Jacques en Patrick. No big fancy shop where you can choose between 30 types of bread and pastries, but a sweet little old bakery.
I have worked in the neighborhood for about six years, so I know that not only the bread and the baguettes are good. The mattetaart (cake from the town Geraardsbergen) and the mastel (a little cake with cinnamon flavor) were my best friends during lunch break.
Oh, if you’re from the north of Europe, Jacques and Patrick sell viking bread. Sorry, bad joke.
