Midtown Grill is the restaurant of the Marriott hotel in the centre of Ghent. Personally I would never go to a restaurant that belongs to a hotel because I think that they are too touristy. Especially not Midtown Grill because I almost never eat meat. As a student, I don’t buy meat that often because it’s a bit expensive and I just don’t like the taste.
A year ago I started with my studies and I ended up in this restaurant. When I tried the food and the meat, I was so surprised. BEST meat I’ve ever had! As a student you eat all the crappy food so no wonder I didn’t eat meat anymore. This opinion is not biased, but honest. I never actually ate there because it’s too expensive for me. But I did try a few things.
The restaurant is inspired by traditional American steakhouses. The focus is on the freshness of the products and where they come from. Except for the American meat, the meat and other foods come from Belgium. They have salads and fish as well so everyone can slide their feet under the table here. The food is simple but the quality is top-notch.
The restaurant has that old warm American atmosphere with an amazing view of the river and the historic buildings. It’s also very quiet inside because the places are limited. In the summer you can sit at the terrace which is next to the water.
