If you don’t like chocolate, then just skip this article. The other 99,9% continue reading as this might be a spot you really want to visit. Belgium is known for good quality chocolate and who am I to disagree.
You can find many chains producing delicious chocolates, like Leonidas, Daskalidas and Neuhaus. And as you might have noticed, those names don’t sound very Belgian indeed. It were mainly foreigners who started producing here and made Belgium famous for its chocolates or pralines as we call them.
Close to many university faculties you can find Quetzal Chocoladebar. On weekdays mainly students frequent this place. But most Belgian students go back to their hometown at weekends, because they miss their mothers cookings. On those days you will probably find an empty table here to try out the fresh chocolate milk, the chocolatefondue or the icecreams with… chocolate!
They permanently have 4 kinds of chocolate: white (25% cacao), light brown/milk (35%), brown/milk (55%) and black/dark (71%). I always go for the dark one as that’s the only real chocolate!
