One of my favourite things about the festive season is the Christmas Market held in the square at the St. Enoch’s centre. Over the years it has got bigger and bigger as it’s gained popularity.
The Christmas market comprises of 50 wooden stalls and chalets decorated with fairy lights, each one packed with everything from glistening handmade knitwear to traditional Christmas decorations. Some of the gifts and delicious from local producers would make a nice change from the usual high street presents, but it’s great for locals to pop in after work for a hot beverage and a bite to eat.
If you are struggling to get into the Christmas spirit, then this is the place to come! You can’t help feeling Christmassy, enjoying the banter from the different stallholders and if you happen to be here when the first snowflakes start to fall then it really does feel like a magical atmosphere.
It’s difficult to resist the amazing smells of the food stands however. And you can treat yourself to some food with inspiration from all over Europe. From tiny Dutch pancakes (poffertjes) and German Bratwurst to Spanish paella and mulled wine (Glühwein).
