Probably the slightly less recognised park in the west end, Kelvingrove Park being the main one, The Botanic Gardens are easily my favourite relaxing spot. During the summer, when the hordes of people just become too much the Botanic Gardens offer a slightly (if only just) quieter and more tranquil setting to walk around in the sun and winter brings a great opportunity to build a snowman. For the limited days of sun that we do get, I find no better way than to spend the entire day lounging around on a rug with a picnic basket and a my favourite book. If lying around taking in the sun doesn’t appeal to you then The Kibble Palace will keep you busy. Having undergone major restoration in 2003 the majestic glass dome reopened and is now better than ever housing exotic plants and complex ecosystems, with trees coming from as far away as Japan and Australia. This indoor garden is a great way to get away from it all, especially during the cold months of winter. For all those interested in history of the city remnants of the old railway station can still be seen, although they are fenced off and a little overgrown. Details about this spot (Show on map)
