Every weekend, the centre of Merchant Square is transformed into a nice and lively craft fair that, for many reasons, never fails to surprise me.
First of all, the location is just a few blocks from Buchanan Street, which makes it quite handy if you are already in the city centre doing some shopping or seeing the main sights. Also, another plus of Merchant Square is that the place is actually a big indoor space, perfect for a quick stroll whatever the weather!
Another reason why I think that the Craft and Design Fair is special is the variety of products available: although some of the exhibitors change from time to time, you will always be able to find handcrafted goods such as jewellery, candles, aromatherapy essences, cards, artworks and prints. There is also a big choice of gifts and accessories made by local wood workers and crafters.
Last but not least, I must mention the fact that all around the area of the fair you can find eight different cafes and restaurants. Fancy a quick bite or a nice burger? Try Steak, Cattle and Roll. More of a full Scottish meal fan? Arisaig is the place for you.
To finish off, treat yourself to an enormous cupcake from the bakery stall or pop inside Metropolitan for a refreshing drink. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
