Once upon a time, the Arches was an iconic venue for gigs and club nights. A few years ago the decision was made to close it down, much to the disappointment of Glaswegians everywhere. Fortunately, the space has not been forgotten.

Platform has taken advantage of the unique location as it is hidden underneath the train tracks of Central Station. With its high Arches (hence the previous name), the space has been occupied by multiple bars and many independent food vendors. Catering to a wide demographic, Platform has something for everyone.

The space is so generous that you can have multiple gatherings going on, separated but not enclosed, so every area is accessible. I always have a soft spot for markets. Mostly hosted on Sunday (it varies), you can find stalls that hold all manner of things. Vinyl, vintage, alcohol, plastic-free, plants and the list goes on. Everything is always very well priced and you will find a great crowd of people wandering around.

If you get the chance to tour the iconic Arches and experience the new business, I would definitely recommend it. As with all great places, feel free to bring your dogs or just enjoy the ones that are already there!
