Glasgow Sculpture Studios – Art

The Glasgow Sculpture Studios is a gallery and resource centre in the West End for, you guessed it, sculptors. The GSS is a unique place. As well as displaying beautiful works of art and exhibitions that are worth checking out, the centre also offers artists facilities to create and research sculptures.

There are production facilities to include wood, metal, ceramics and stone workshops. Artists can hire out a studio for a long term project or just on an hourly basis. I recently went to see an exhibition which was fantastic, but afterwards I was also treated to a tour of the artists workspace which was really impressive.

Another great thing about the GSS is the free lunchtime talks that they put on every Thursday. The talks are from international and national speakers, about new sculptures and practices. If you are looking to see a different form of art on display than the usual, then the Glasgow Sculpture Studios is an interesting experience.
