I know, I know… There are probably ten Indian restaurants called Indian Cottage in Glasgow alone. However, this one has made a special impression on me.
I first encountered this spot on an evening when a friend and I were both hit by a fast-spreading, very serious, curry craving. As we all know, in such moments, Indian food must be detected and purchased at the speed of light, unless side effects such as constant drooling and belly rubbing are desired.
We quickly found this spot. It looked like a simple take-away, but to our big surprise, we discovered a restaurant in the back. I remember my first experience of the venue so vividly. As we entered the restaurant with golden glitter walls (that’s right, also in the restrooms), funky Indian tunes were playing, and the waitress was singing along. The atmosphere was homey. And those curries? So authentic, spicy and filling!
Since that evening, I have been back many times. The service is always excellent, and, in my opinion, you cannot find a better chicken masala in Glasgow than the one served by Indian Cottage on Albion Street.
