For years now King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, simply known by locals as King Tuts, has been the number 1 venue for live music in Scotland. It is also regarded, by some, to be one of the best in the UK. Anyone who is anyone in the music business has played here at some point and some bands consider themselves to have made it after playing their own gig here. It was after all the place where Oasis were spotted and signed. If I have nothing to do in an evening, I frequently go along to King Tut’s and check out whoever is playing. Half the time I have never heard of the band, but they are nearly always good. The venue itself is built in the basement of terraced building in Glasgow city centre and is built over floors. The basement is the bar and pub, free to enter any time and is quite nice if all you want is a drink. However, go straight through the bar, up the stairs to the small and compact stage area where the real attraction in King Tut’s belongs. The stage area is a perfectly formed room which creates a experience that makes you feel as though the band is playing to you and a select few others and delivers an atmosphere, which along side brilliant acoustics and lighting, makes for perfect listening. Watch out for Andy Mckee who is due to play in the near future. For all music lovers King Tut’s truly is a must! Details about this spot (Show on map)
