The Steamie – A café or someone’s living room?

On those rainy days where I have nothing better to do than sip coffee and eat carrot cake, I go straight to The Steamie. Through its interior, this café creates a relaxed and low key vibe. Everything is completely and deliberately mismatched (I hope), and essentially, this spot looks like a furniture flea market. The Steamie has no counter, and this really helps underpinning its cozy atmosphere. Instead your coffee is prepared on an old tool bench by the side of the room – it practically feels like the barista has invited you in to his funky living room for an afternoon chat.

Baristas in this café are coffee experts (just look at the decorative coffee drink overview on their wall), and will happily cut you a piece of their freshly baked chocolate cherry brownie or serve you a nice bowl of porridge for breakfast. While the fearless and quirky interior could excuse low quality food and coffee, that certainly is not the case for The Steamie. If you end up giving it a go, I am sure you will agree with me!
