The Wee Fish Market, one of two shops is in a little row of coffee shops, craft shops, knitting cafes and hairdressers and is my favourite fish shop in Glasgow. I may be biased as they like Winnie my dog and let her in for a sniff when I’m buying, but I like my fish, I know my fish and I keep coming back.
If you’re visiting the West End of city and you are catering for yourself and you like a seafood treat then pop into this tiny little, ‘Mini Fish Market’ and have a look. It may only be small-scale (pun very much intended!), but it has a lot to offer. There is a wide variety of seafood available from beautiful flaky hake, luxurious halibut, sweet langoustine and chunky cod loins.
The majority of the produce is from sustainably caught fish from Scottish shores and other organic products that are the freshest I have tasted on this side of the city. The owner and staff are experts at their craft AND experts on how to cook every fishy delight with advice on recipes and accompaniments to the dishes they suggest.
There is a smoked fish selection also available with lovely hot and cold smoked salmon, kippers from Loch Fyne and the famous Arbroath Smokies.
You can now also order your fish directly from the shop if you want something exotic (think lobster and octopus!) for a special occasion. Talk to the friendly Aldo in the shop.
