Very hip place, with a hip waiter, hip old school chairs, a hip DJ with two turntables for sunday breakfast and a beautiful natural view (and thus hip;) of the harbour. One thing though: waiting an hour an 20 minutes for your breakfast is not hip at all, I have to say. They should hire another hip waiter.

Lovely place, very peaceful, except for the ariplanes that fly over every 5 minutes :). Stuff like smell-boxes and timber samples are pretty cool. But go there from May on, when there's leaves & flowers.

I visited the church ruins and memorial on June 15th, 2011 and found it a moving experience indeed. An exhibition of the utter brutality and total waist that wars really are. It is also a testament to the human condition and ingenuity that cities such as Coventry, Warsaw, Dresden and Hamburg have been rebuilt with really no evidence of ever having been destroyed. Memorials such as this give us a view of a dark time in history but I doubt that we will learn from it.

The exhibition about Hamburg and how it was devastated during the war is impressive, even though there I think ther could have been more contextual explanation to the pictures. There are also pictures from Coventry and Warsaw to avoid the impression of German victimisation, but again not very much context. Nevertheless an impressive exhibition. It is also very interesting to see the ruins of the church, which shows, how war can destroy even this massive structures of stones.

Also impressive is the view you get from top of the church tower. You will see Hamburg like you will see nowhere else! Totally recommendable.
