What I like most about Freischwimmer in Eimsbüttel is the relaxed and down-to-earth-atmosphere with simple furniture and cozy dimmed light. It is definitely a place where you’d like to meet with friends, have fun and a good meal. Fun means precisely the two skittle alleys down in the basement – the smell will remind you of your grandmother’s cellar with lots of preserved plums and pickles. That’s just the way it has to be!
After playing a few rounds you will get hungry… You lucky folks! Just order your 3 course dinner and enjoy the starters downstairs, finishing the last game. Now the evening starts to get even more pleasant, sitting upstairs, savoring yummy (even veggy) burgers and crispy frites, fried tuna, mouth watering deep fried chicken with potato salad and cucumber salad or one of the vegan dishes like quinoa tofu or asparagus with seitan. The best of all comes at the end – I highly recommend the rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream.
A cute idea is the availability of paper tablecloths and thick colored pencils for creating the most striking artworks by guests – the later the evening the more remarkable the pictures…
The Freischwimmer is a nice spot for bigger groups, but also for a date for two. I recommend you make a reservation in advance for dinner, and for booking the skittle alleys call well in advance.
