I really love this fine and tiny restaurant, Kleiner Speisesaal, in the heart of Winterhude at the Dorotheenstraße. Small means really small, only 40 seats inside and on warm days 40 additional chairs outside on the terrace. That also means: please make a reservation in advance, on weekends this should happen at least two weeks before you plan to visit.
It’s a familiar atmosphere, the tables are close together and that is quite communicative. The food is just delicious, modern and light, very tasty. The menu offers fish, meat and vegetarian dishes mostly combined with seasonal vegetables and fruits.
It is hard to find an alternative for the gently roasted tuna with black sesame and wasabi crème! But you could also try truffled scallops, lamb fillet with mashed cauliflower potatoes or as a dessert the lemon yoghurt mousse with marille compote or the famous hazelnut panacotta with berry sauce.
The prices are moderate for the food and also for the beverages, the service is extremely nice and friendly.
