I think it is a crime to give this secret away… But I just HAVE to tell you about this spot which owns a very special place in my heart. I instantly fell in love with Lühmanns when I entered it the very first time about 14 years ago.
This is a true gem for England lovers and all the others too! The owners Monika and Uwe Lühmann have been trading in British products for many years and have therefore visited Great Britain many times. How lucky are we that they felt the passion to deliver the English culture to Hamburg!
This isn’t only a tearoom but an adequate restaurant for breakfast, lunch, teatime and dinner. I love the very cozy and charming atmosphere given off by the furniture and the humorous and affectionate decorating. They offer different types of tea and coffee, breakfast variations, warm vegetarian and vegan dishes and just the most delicious cake I’ve ever eaten! The cake pieces are huge and you’ll wish your grandmother could bake as well as Mrs. Lühmann can!
One specialty is the “cornish cream tea”, two home baked scones with jam, clotted cream and a pot of British tea.
Lühmanns Teestube offers a marvelous brunch buffet on Sundays and holidays, delicious smoked fish and sausage, all kinds of cheese, jams, marmalades, home baked breads, eggs in all forms, cereals, yoghurt, and on and on – take care to not overstuff yourself! Make sure to make a reservation at least one month in advance!
