I think it is a crime to give this secret away… But I just HAVE to tell you about this spot which owns a very special place in my heart. I instantly fell in love with Lühmanns when I entered it the very first time about 17 years ago.
This is a true gem for England lovers and everyone else too! The owners Monika and Uwe Lühmann have been trading in British products for many years and have therefore visited Great Britain many times. How lucky are we that they felt the passion to deliver English culture to Hamburg! Since February the Britain Lovers enjoy their deserved retirement – but all the Lühmann Fans were scared: who would take over this institution? The person has been found – it’s new owner and former architect Maud Bargs who Monika and Uwe chose, because she’s nice and because of her willingness to preserve the Teestube as it is!
This isn’t only a tearoom but an adequate restaurant for breakfast, lunch, teatime and dinner. I love the very cozy and charming atmosphere given off by the furniture and the humorous and affectionate decoration. They offer different types of tea and coffee, breakfast variations, warm vegetarian and vegan dishes and just the most delicious cake I’ve ever eaten! The cake pieces are huge and you’ll wish your grandmother could bake as well as Mrs. Lühmann can!
One specialty is the “cornish cream tea”, two home baked scones with jam, clotted cream and a pot of British tea.
