Although quite plain on the outside, M&V bar has a lot going on inside! Located on lively “Lange Reihe” (see article here) it has been open to everyone since 1953: regulars and visitors, millionaires and vagabonds, gays and friends – a place that unites all people, no matter their preference.
As you go inside, you’ll find cozy booths with antique furniture and a large shimmering bar with a sophisticated choice of drinks. Their menu, designed like a magazine with artistic photography, has become a popular collector’s item and offers quality for a good price. Locals like to come here for their afternoon coffee, a happy hour beer (only € 1!), mixed drinks, good wine and yummy snacks.
The name M&V goes back to the historic Hamburg distillery “Mulzer&Voelkel” established in 1924. Back then, there were various M&V taverns all across town for customers to buy and taste the popular M&V products. Today, the M&V bar in St. Georg is the last remaining of its kind – a wonderful place of tolerance that continues to make history day by day and night after night.
