In St. Pauli, parallel to the famous Reeperbahn, you’ll find a little bar called Museum Bar. The rooms harbored the Erotic Art Museum in the past. When the museum closed, two sisters decided to keep the art alive and stay open for the public – but in the form of a bar.
The Museum Bar is not too crowded – not even on weekends, when it’s often hard to find a place to stand (let alone sit) in the many bars and pubs of St. Pauli. That’s one of the man reasons why I love to go to the Museum Bar – there is always enough room for my friends and me. The sisters are perfect hosts to whoever finds the way to their bar. They offer free snacks and decent priced drinks.
While having a beer or „Sexikaner” at the Museum Bar, the experience of erotic art will not come up short. Every wall (and even the bathroom and ceiling) is plastered with collages and paintings – the art is not for the faint-hearted! The sisters also sell the art and put up new items, so chances are you’ll see new pictures every time you’re there.
I often use the Museum Bar as a starting point to go on the nightly adventures on Reeperbahn. Some nights my friends and I end up staying there the whole night… The Museum Bar is a great place to have a drink (or two, or three…)!
