For the summer of 2012 our locals recommend quite a few place for you hang out in. This small selection of examples is to wet your appetite! Enjoy!
1. Oberstübchen (by Louise Kunth)
“You can sit on their awesome terrace now and enjoy the sun and free wifi. Inside it is very cozy, with lots of wooden furniture and with a fantastic view over the harbor. You can enjoy different dishes, from soups and salads, to pasta or coq au vin.”
2. Strandperle (by Kyra Garske)
Strandperle ; Vamos a la playa!
“The Strandperle has since many years been the only simple snack stall at the beach. Under the sunshades, the free chairs or at the sandy beach you can sit down and relax.Sometimes it seems all Hamburgers (from students to seniors) are here standing in line for drinks & (the best!) french fries from the fast and friendly service. The atmosphere is easy-going and relaxed.”
3. Atlantik Fisch (by Louise Kunth)
All you seafood lovers, may we have your attention! For good quality seafood, visit Atlantik Fisch! Louise recommends this place, “We go there as well in summer times to have oysters, white wine and baguette, sitting in the sun and enjoying our lives.”
4. Kajüte, Hamburg (by Micha Becker)
This is one of Micha’s favorite spots in Hamburg. Kajüte is a beautiful restaurant located on Alster Lake.
“The “Kajüte” is simply the personification of Hamburg’s pure maritime and seaside flair at any time of the season. It doesn’t matter if you stay only for a coffee or for a meal.”
5. Hadley’s (by Louise Kunth)
This picture doens’t show it, and neither does the interior really, but this building used to house a hospital! Nowadays you can enjoy great food and drinks here, especially during summer in their garden!
“You’re sitting in the backyard, very green and calm. Just beautiful.”
6. El Brujito (by Kyra Garske)
Yummy, South American cuisine!! And South American cuisine should be eaten outside in the sunshine, and El Brujito provides ample opportunity as local Kyra Garske writes, “You can sit inside on chairs and armchairs, in front of the door on a bench (great during the day) or in the beer-garden in the backyard.”
7. Kostbar (by Micha Becker)
Kostbar; A true locals’ favorite!
“In summer you probably want to sit outside to enjoy the warm evening watching people on the street chattering or listening to a musician playing a lonely song.”
8. Café bar Amphore (by Kyra Garske)
“An amazing place for starting the day, best with relaxing breakfast in sunshine and with a great view over the Elbe river!”, Kyra Garske says. Your day can’t go wrong after such a start at Amphore!
9. Oberhafenkantine (by Louise Kunth)
“It is a lovely place where you can enjoy some regional specialties. Everything is fresh and handmade. And in summer it is perfect when you sit outside next to the water and have some drinks.”
You should also walk to Oberhafenkantine, Louise says, because the walk is beautiful!
10. Transmontana (by Kyra Garske)
Transmontana is a Portuguese restaurant, which local Kyra especially recommends for its breakfast.
