For independent and arts, cineasts come and gather together in a hidden backyard at 3001. It’s also for those who are tired of mainstream arts. Annual highlights include the Festival of Latin American Cinema and the movie nights at Millerntor (open-air event). There are International movies being shown in at least 5 different languages (with subtitles).
The 3001 Cinema is accessible at ground level and wheelchair friendly. The opening hours depend on the weekly/monthly program, therefore please check their website!
They don’t sell popcorn, but you can buy other snacks as well as non/-or alcoholic beverages (they have a new range of organic teas). The chairs are all at the same level and it can be a bit annoying, if tall people are sitting in front of you blocking your view.
Another rare plus, “Meyers treasure box” for all who would like to make their own cinema program. How it works: You determine the movie and a date (preferably on a Sunday at 11:00 clock) and 3001 will perform the ordered movie/-s. You can invite max. 90 friends (they have 91 seats). The whole thing will cost you only € 80 for two hours. Only a few of these films/treasures you’ll find on DVD, otherwise you could also watch them at home.
On May 30 – June 2nd the event “cine cubano 2013″ (Spanish language) is on, the versatile filmmaking in Cuba has a long tradition and is not yet exhausted…
Also upcoming is the open-air cinema season in June till July (St. Pauli Stadion)!
