Ute Kreitz (1976)
About me
I was born in Bremerhaven and raised in a nearby village – that makes me a true “northern light” as they say in Germany.
Before moving to Hamburg in the summer of 2007, I engaged for a decade in what I call ‘intercontinental hopping’: Germany – USA – Germany – USA – Germany. I moved to Washington DC in 1996 where I studied psychology and worked as a counselor. After almost 7 years, I returned to Germany for graduate school. But I couldn’t really cut my ties to the US, and moved to the west coast in 2005 to work in clinical research at UCLA for over a year.
When I returned to the ‘fatherland’ the second time, I decided to move to Hamburg. Up to that point I had seen very little of it (and yet I felt drawn to it), so I didn’t really know why people call it “the most beautiful city of Germany”. I thought Hamburg was just okay. But the minute I moved here and began to explore the city I was captivated and realized that they were right!
In my spare time, I sing in a band. I am interested in music, photography, and outdoor activities. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and being creative.
Why Hamburg?
- I love its Hanseatic architecture and flair
- Hamburg is very international and you meet interesting people of various cultural backgrounds
- It is an ever evolving city that has both a small town feel and a cosmopolitan touch
- There is an eclectic mix of venues and events providing fun year-round
- Hamburg is very green, and close to both the North and Baltic Sea
- The weather is not always the greatest, but who can have it all?
