For years I’ve been hoping for someone to recognise the significant lack of Vietnamese food in Helsinki, and I believe people are finally realising it now!
A tiny little coffee shop in the centre of the centre, between the senate square and Esplanadi park (you literally can’t be more in Helsinki!) yet a bit tucked away, there I discovered HKI+. I wasn’t aware of their menu until I read about it somewhere: besides regular coffee and some snacks, the lovely owners serve authentic Vietnamese Pho soup – a delicious broth with rice noodles, herbs and typically served with beef or chicken (but a vegetarian/vegan option is also available) and it’s to.die.for. Especially at this time of year it’s the perfect feel-good-food, plus it’s super fresh and healthy.
Restaurants or cafés this centrally located often scream “tourist trap” but HKI+ is a delightful surprise! Try the Vietnamese coffee with sweet milk for dessert! You won’t leave hungry or disappointed. An ideal stop after shopping, sightseeing but it will also be a regular lunch spot for me no matter how far away from it I will be!
