Helsinki is probably not the number one budget traveller destination. For those of you, who just need some grub to fill your bellies, I would like to tell you about the joys of Barbarossa.
There have been many famous Redbeards in the history, but in Helsinki hearing the name mostly just makes you think of pizza. What makes our Barbarossa known, is its central location combined with low prices and amazing opening hours.
Don’t be fooled by the prices on the menu over the counter – everything in this small pizza and kebab place costs € 5. And in case you didn’t already know, in Helsinki that is cheap! I recommend going for pizza, because considering the price, they’re good and huge. And by huge I mean that they blatantly defy the constraints of their plates by always spreading half onto the table.
Barbarossa is situated right in the city center, behind the Forum shopping center. On Friday and Saturday the pizzeria is open until 05:00, so after the last bars close at four this is the place to get that desperately needed pizza.
