I’m a big fan of soup; there’s nothing better during the colder seasons, and generally, well, soups are plain awesome.
A somewhat recent addition to Helsinki’s soup joints is “La Soupe”, a tiny little shop in the heart of the city. Owner Mikael is Finnish, but was raised in Monaco. After coming back to live in Helsinki only a few years ago, he quickly came up with the idea of opening a specialised place for soups. Lunch buffets in the area can easily get a bit generic and also quite pricey and even though the salmon soup is a classic in Finland, especially the soups in the city lack in variety and taste – so La Soupe is sent from heaven!
He serves four different soups daily (always at least one veggie one), since the shop is so small the idea is to have your soup to take away. All four options are home made, of local produce and bursting with flavour. You can also combine your soup lunch with a salad, and also take a good coffee with you while you’re at it.
It’s located perfectly so really easy to quickly drop in and enjoy a super tasty soup on the spot or on the go. I can’t wait to try more!
