About me
I was born in Helsinki and have lived here all my life. I’m happily married and work in my own advertising agency called Clever Girl. Before Clever Girl I worked for an airline for 13 years and used to do quite a lot of travelling, but these days all my favourite destinations seem to be in Europe. Mostly cities, as I just love city life, the bars, the restaurants etc. I don’t cook much anymore, so even when I’m home I eat out a lot, practically every day. And I’m happy to tell you that the Helsinki restaurant & bar scene is getting better and better almost by the hour.
When I’m not working I like to plan all sorts of things, design jewellery, plan festivals and happenings like The Finnish New Potato Festival and RööperiFest, photograph stone chimeras/gargoyles on old buildings (I call it my Orcspotting), and of course take care of my monthly ’youngster free’ club, a discotheque ’for us over 50’. It’s called Disco K-50, and a photo ID is required from everybody!
For me the best part of Helsinki is Punavuori, a.k.a. Rööperi, where I have both my home and my office. Punavuori has during the last 5-10 years become very hip, lots of small design shops, artists, ad agencies etc. And it’s also part of the Helsinki Design District.
Why do I love Helsinki?
It’s a clean and beautyful city by the sea with a wonderful archipelago. The air is easy to breathe. A finn is by nature a bit reserved at first, but friendly and honest, when you get to know them. New ideas are welcomed with enthusiasm and the city is getting more and more international by the minute.
