Rupla is probably one of the hippest places in Kallio or even in the whole of Helsinki right now. Situated in the vibrant street Helsinginkatu, Rupla combines a cafe, an art gallery and a vintage store and also hosts all kinds of events. Rupla seems to be very active in the neighborhood in general, commenting and reacting to what’s happening around it in Kallio and in the society.
As a cafe, I like Rupla because it is cool but also cosy at the same time; the place is very spacious and bright thanks to the big windows to the street. It makes you want to stay for a while and enjoy the art on the walls while sipping your coffee and maybe enjoying a piece of raw cake, and it is nice browsing through the vintage clothes in the back of the cafe afterwards.
On weekends, Rupla also serves brunch, with a nice selections of home-made foods and several vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. The menu changes monthly.
