Most people know Suvilahti as the venue for the famous city Flow Festival featuring trendy music, light show and great eats. Flow Festival fits perfectly at Suvilahti considering Suvilahti is a versatile city culture hub.
For me Suvilahti is a gateway to the Teurastamo foodie area. From the city center you can access Suvilahti easily by metro and stop at Sörnäinen station. Suvilahti is within walking distance from Sörnäinen. I love walking through the industrial area of Suvilahti. You will be amazed by the industrial architecture you will be surrounded by. Suvilahti used to be a powerplant producing gas and electricity in the 20th century.
There’s pretty much three things why I think Suvilahti is the gateway to Teurastamo. The first thing is the industrial architecture. Second is Restaurant Lämpö which is a nice place to stop by for a coffee or a bite. The third is of course local brewery Stadin Panimo. There’s brewery tours available as well as their bar where you can have a taste of their wide variety of different beers.
After stopping by at Stadin Panimo bar or Restaurant Lämpö it is easy to continue to Teurastamo which takes about 5-10 minutes by foot. If you are interested in performing arts, Suvilahti also hosts a Circus venue Cirko and Circus Helsinki. Check their websites for shows and more info.
