Flow festival is one of the best and biggest music festivals in southern Finland. (I don’t count Tuska as a festival since people wear too much black leather there.) Flow goes down from August 7th to August 11th, but it is a 4 day festival since after Wednesday’s opening concert with, this year, The Knife (SE) there’s no program on Thursday.
The age limit is 18 years and at the moment (May 21st) there are still tickets available in all kinds of combinations.
Flow started years ago as a small event, but its uncompromising work to find and drum up new exiting artists and line them up with loads of well known pioneers of the business has paid off. I have usually been there for just one day to spot a handful of my favourites. I first went there in 2008 to see The Roots plus Sebastien Tellier and then again in 2011 after Q-Tip (who unfortunately cancelled the whole European tour), Röyksopp and French Films to name a few. But the thing with Flow is that you always have a chance to see loads of cool bands, even so that it’s sometimes hard to make them all fit into a schedule.
Besides bands Flow usually has a very nice selection of food available. Only minus is the limited and expensive selection of drinks. But, you know, maybe this is not the place to get hammered by mixing all the worlds alcohols in the first place.
