Taloushoito Oy is maybe the cutest little shop in Kallio, and probably one of the oldest, as it was founded in 1945. But! Now is your last chance to go shopping there and enjoy the unique, nostalgic atmosphere, as the owner has decided to retire!
Its window, stuffed with weekly-changing items, covered in hand-written price tags, is an attraction. Usually anyone seeing the shop for the first time has the same reaction: I want to spend my money there! How it is possible to not only fill the window so precisely, but also change it completely at least every week, remains a mystery to me.
Taloushoito Oy mostly sells needlework accessories, but also everything from tablecloths to pillows and woolen socks and even hand-made clothes for Barbie-dolls.
Even I, someone who has always absolutely sucked at needlework, want to shop there. The shop is such a charming place in all its weirdness. The owner is a nice elderly lady who seems to know everybody living in the same building, and is always willing to help you to choose your cat-patterned pillow, or whatever you might be buying.
The shop has probably remained unchanged since it was founded, so NB: cash only!
