My favorite spot to escape Istanbul’s chaotic and exhausting nature is Caddebostan Sahil (sahil means coast in English). Starting from Dalyan and ending in Suadiye, it gets its name from the district of Caddebostan which is the central place to meet and spend time.
Caddebostan Sahil is a car-free coastline where locals from all age groups come for many different reasons: jogging, cycling, skateboarding, swimming, playing basketball, volleyball and so on…With its wide green area, playgrounds and segregated bike lane, Caddebostan Sahil is also a great spot for dog walkers, families with children and cyclists.
I prefer to go there on weekdays because it is less crowded and more peaceful. One of the best things to do is to lie on the grass and have a picnic with your friends. You can buy your food and drinks from the supermarket Migros.
Caddebostan Sahil gives me the chance to take a break from hectic city life for a period of time. It has a beautiful scenery overlooking Princes’ Islands. You can watch windsurfers or view the old mansions surrounding the coastline. Who knows, if it is your lucky day you can even see a dolphin jumping out of the sea.
