The former US consulate on Meşrutiyet Caddesi (a historical yet trendy avenue in Beyoglu) was recently renovated by Soho House. Although the club is private, one of its restaurants Cecconi’s is open to everyone.
Located in the beautiful courtyard of 19th century Palazzo Corpi Building, Cecconi’s has a very charming yet casual atmosphere. The Italian restaurant promises a feast for the eyes with its long tables, tile floors and colorful details. The food is even better.
From the starters, I recommend fried calamari with smoked tomato aioli. For main course, I had the best handmade pasta I’ve eaten in a long time: a superb garganelli bolognese. The real deal, however, was the dessert. If you are a sweet tooth; do not miss profiterole with Antep pistachio, gelato and freshly-made chocolate sauce. It literally melts in your mouth.
If you love Mediterranean cuisine or are searching for high-quality food, Cecconi’s is the place. The only downside is the small portions. Keep in mind: they serve brunch on Sundays.
