Are you in Beyoglu? Are you hungry? Do you want to have some homemade food? Do you want to go to Fıccın? I guess around a million people answer all of these questions yes every day. Jokes aside, Fıccın feeds a decent percentage of people working around the area every lunch time. They are so popular (for good reason) that they have opened 4 or 5 branches – in the same street. It’s an interesting approach to branching out, I know.
Fıccın serves food that you can find in every home in Turkey: soups, stews, meatballs, and olive-oil based vegetables (zeytinyagli). They also have Circassian specialties like their namesake dish, Fıccın. Around dinner time, you can have meze and drinks, or order some meat/fish dishes and wine.
This place is great for a number of reasons: owned & run by women, reasonably priced, clean and always consistent! Don’t expect amazing service or a romantic atmosphere, but go when you feel like no nonsense, no haute cuisine, just good food.
