Not being a traditional local cuisine restaurant, the place is worth visiting to get an impression of gastro-life in Kiev. Arbequina is always in the top 5 for gastro-experts and foodies. Situated right next to the Independence Square, it’s not easy to notice at once. The location itself is small and cosy, like dining at a friend’s place.
Arbequina – is a variety of olives, used to make oil of a high quality. That’s why the assorted olives here are just perfect. The cuisine is Mediterranean, mostly Spanish: pan Catalan, good selection of fresh and mature cheeses, jamon Serrano, Iberico, Bellota, seafood. Fresh pies with spinach, fish, cheese, berries and carrots; seasonal ones – with pumpkin or rhubarb.
There’s a mini store right under the showcase: one can buy olives, jamon, turrones and other Mediterranean products. The place is an absolute must-visit for breakfast: a small terrace is always a destination for those in the know during the sweet morning and noon hours. It’s a pleasant time with cottage cheese and coffee or even a glass of Syrah – a great beginning of the day.
The newly opened hall is full of pictures and a real Mediterranean mood.
