If you are somewhere around the Old city triangle (check the Old city triangle article), you can stop by Pod asfaltom plyazh for a snack or for a drink. The place is rather new, it’s been only a few months since it opened. Several years ago there was a very cool steampunk-style bar here. I loved it and was devastated when they decided to close. After this bar was gone there were several not so successful attempts to open restaurants here, and finally it looks like these guys are here to stay.
The name literally means Beach under the pavement. It does look like a beach bar – tables and chairs made of rough wooden boards, bright colors, laid back cozy relaxed atmosphere, there is even a swing. They often have concerts and speakers, the visitors are mostly young nice looking people. The menu is quite short but they have my favorite hummus so it’s fine.
Probably not the best place for beer lovers, but there are lots of cocktails and cider instead.
