I’m happy to inform you – Poland is not one of those selfish, self-separating countries who are using dubbing!
So, if you are an English speaker you can easily go and relax in every cinema (at least during English productions) as they’re shown in the native language with Polish subtitles.
But ‘Kino pod baranami’, situated on the main market, offers you even something more – here you can watch originally Polish films with english subtitles! You must admit – it’s quite unique. Every two weeks – on tuesdays – you can have a date with polish cinematography.
Besides – it’s a non-commercial, small cinema. Nothing to do with multiplexes. A couple of rooms (named as colours), cafeteria, no special effects. They receive quite a lot of awards – including the one for best European cinemas (judged by programme) – as they often involve themselves into different kind of festivals and events.
What I like is that they cooperate with another place like this – called ‘ARS‘ (check out the article!). Those two spots – both located in the very center – are kind of twin cinemas. So no surprises as you see a young guy pulling a huge tape (they use traditional way of screening!) on a trolley through the main market from ‘ARS’ to ‘Kino pod baranami’ or the other way round.
