When it comes to universities in Kraków, AGH University of Science and Technology has undoubtedly the most vibrant campus. Every student in the city knows there’s no party like the one in this district, widely known as Miasteczko Studenckie (student town). This part of the city has places typical for student areas all over the world, but there are special touches, too. Apart from some really nice and cheap eateries, there’s some brain food as well. When I’m around, for books, coffee and relaxed atmosphere, I always head to Microscup.
As you’d expect from a technical university, even the name of the place is related to science – Microscup combines the words microscope, cup (of coffee) and micro (as the space is teeny-tiny indeed). The coffee is top quality (alternative brewing methods are also available), but what I really love about Microscup is the fact that it’s a bookstore as well! The walls of the room are covered with tons of really nice, carefully picked titles – popular science, non-fiction, biographies and many more.
I adore browsing the books in bookstores abroad, just to see the editorial and design trends. Even if you don’t know a single word in Polish, you can indulge in this pleasure in Microscup – with a cup of tasty coffee on the side.
