The interest in the Zabłocie district has been increasing within the last few years. For tourists it’s the place to go for a bit of history (Schindler’s Factory) and world-class modern art (MOCAK on the other side of the road). Locals associate the area with the Kraków startup community, rapidly growing IT hubs and innovative uses of post-industrial architecture. It hasn’t been until lately that this district started to get more recognition as a foodie destination. Piec na Zabłociu, freshly opened in April 2017, is one of the spots to include in your culinary journey on this side of the Vistula river.
You need to look really closely to find the restaurant’s door. The interior is just as simple, but in here it’s all about the genuine Italian oven, operated with love by Lorenzo, Piec na Zabłociu’s head chef. All the goods on the menu are baked. The list includes ex. fish, meat, lasagne and, obviously, pizza. The one combining thin pear slices with spinach has got me daydreaming about it until now. All the ingredients make an absolutely perfect match.
The owners of Piec na Zabłociu run a second restaurant on the other side of the wall. I’m not surprised their other venue already is already gaining a loyal following. When you get the munchies after visiting MOCAK or the famous Schindler’s site, Piec na Zabłociu is just the right place to go for a fantastic feast.
