I love when I get the chance and the time to walk around the old neighborhoods of Lisbon; I’m lucky enough to live in one of them which makes it easy to just step outside and get lost in any direction.
I found Barbearia Oliveira on one of those weekend walks. Me and Fatinha just came down from some alleys of Alfama and were descending Rua dos Remédios when the façade of this barbershop caught my attention. It looked old and modern at the same time and I had to check it out. I found an old barbershop, maybe one of the oldest in Lisbon, with an incredible vintage and, at the same time, modern feeling.
Barbearia Oliveira is the project of two brothers that wanted to revive the bygone days by offering the personal care with an atmosphere and techniques from the past. An incredible sense of going back in time overcomes me when I step inside.
Beards and moustaches have never made so much sense, and these guys know how to deal with it. Their skills are amazing and, although I didn’t have the guts to sit and let them create magic right away, I’m definitely thinking of going back there for a renewed look. I promise to update my profile photo with my new look after my visit to Barbearia Oliveira.
They’ve opened another shop, next to the central square Rossio, in Rua Dom Antão de Almada number 4H.
