Looking for a good place in Lisbon with cold beer isn’t hard. The problem is to find other kinds of beer – There’s only two main brands and the smallest tend to be ignored – I blame it on the Romans because they conquered our territory and as a superior civilization, they established an empire. An empire in the old Lusitania territory with a strange drink made from grapes: Wine – Bleargh! Ok, they built roads and cities and they even brought industry, agriculture, education, sports, language… and a whole new world of things that we now can’t live without… but they planted vineyards, or at least, they brought wine! Bloody hell!
Now, back to Lusitana, one of the places I consider to have decent beer. The place serves traditional Portuguese food and snacks as well, like “Prego” – the one on the photo. which is a small portion of beef served on bread, solo or with french fries and homemade pickles, like here in Lusitana. Also try the “Bitoque” (steak with fried egg, fried potatoes and rice), if you are hungry.
At Lusitana, best place in town for beer lovers, I thought I was in Berlin again: There’s white, black, red and the new spicy beer (with ginger and chili), Erdinger on tap (weizen traditional German type) and even Pils! There’s homemade beer also for tasting, and that’s really unusual in Portugal. Cheers!
