Some weekend ago, me and my friends went for a relaxing 8km bike-ride on a sunny afternoon near the riverside. Suddenly the munchies attacked and there was only one place in our thoughts… We headed to Restelo, near the Belém quarter for a burger.
It’s safe to say when it comes to simple stuff like this… Yes, the hamburger is America’s sandwich. But when it gets mixed with traditional Madeira’s Island bread (Bolo do Caco) and other ingredients such as avocado, portobello mushrooms, honey and Brie cheese, caramelized onions… Wow! Hey guys!!! Sorry to say this to you, not anymore… This burger is in a different league now. You’d better pack your things and take the next flight to Lisbon, you won’t find one like this near you!
Here at Hamburgueria do Bairro you’ll find genuine and tasty burgers that can kick the munchies back. There’s chicken “piu-piu” burger for the ladies and tofu for the veggies. And at the end, everyone’s happy. There’s Brisa (Passion Fruit local soda from Madeira), and besides beer and coke, there’s fresh made lemonade and ice cold tea.
Take your kids there and show them the real stuff… If it matters, the fries are for real – house and hand-made! Forget the burgers you’ve eaten at McClown and Burger Queen… here it’s all about great quality products, from meat to traditional bread. Can’t wait to return.
It’s packed during the obvious hours, so… one way to avoid disappointing your family… there’s a takeaway service :).
